I'm back from my Global Village trip with Habitat for Humanity. One of my fellow builders from the Mexico trip led the trip to Nagercoil - the southernmost city in India, near Kanyakumari - at the very southern tip of India.  We had a great group of people and a terrific time.  We worked on 5 houses and poured a foundation and a roof, carried a lot of concrete blocks and rocks, sifted sand, carried mortar, and even got to lay some bricks and blocks.

We did manage to fit in some sightseeing including a trip to a few temples, a palace, and a procession led by an elephant (it wouldn't be a trip to India with an elephant).  My photos can be found on Flickr.

Here's one of our worksites when we were just getting started.  We hammered the bars into the windows and carried all those blocks and bricks up.  There were many more to come.
